Fan Expo Canada 2013 and The Last of Us!

Let me start by saying it was great, and I'd say for the first year being a vender, I'm happy with the outcome and will be attending  next year!

This post however will primarily be about The Last of Us well and the Expo. Now if I'd been more organized and hadn't had a few curve balls, I would have had a post about my costume before the event, but after will have to do. If you are not familiar with The Last of Us it is a Play Station Exclusive video game that has great game play, great graphics and an amazing character driven plot! One of my favorite games of the year. So for Fan Ex I decided to Cosplay as Ellie a strong willed, rough edged teenager.

I compiled all the part bit by bit including learning how to silk screen so I could wear her signature T-shirt. I noticed when putting this costume together a lot of detail went into the backpacks of the characters concerting your looking at them for most of the game. This lead my to try and recreate the little monster which appears on her bag through out the game and get custom buttons printed.

Because of this costume I meet some awesome people including two of the Dangerous Ladies, who happen to know their way around cosplaying quite well. On the last day of the con I (Ellie) met up with  Jenn (Tess), Brad (Joel)  to do a spur of the moment Last of Us photo shoot. Thanks to Josh of JJAB Productions  For taking these grand shoots!

These are a few of my Favs:

Now to get improving my Costume for the Toronto Zombie walk!

LIttle Things

Little projects all coming together . I have a few things on the go and some are actually coming to a head, in the best possible way. It means I can soon start more of my crazy ventures in to making art my entire well, job. I mean for the amount of time spent doing it I figure why not love what I do, and if that just gets me enough to cover bills cool.

So this post is going to be another update from my projects page into my main feed it was the ABC dress (anything  but cloths) it was for a party a while back and I got the great idea to plaster giant bows all over my body, it was nearing Christmas... The great thing about this particular b-day celebration was it was all fx people so you know the non-cloths were great!

Next week's post, yes I said next week, will be new content I promise. Just don't want to lose these tidbits of stuff in the digital black hole that is my computer. Here is a fun link to a rant I did about

Let’s Put the Class Back in ABC…

Alright so I am going to assume most people have heard of an “Anything But Cloths party”. My question is though; Why is it that first thing our ladies pull out is saran wrap and tinsel? Come on girls, unless you want to be Dexter’s next victim let’s do something more original.

Inspiration is a great place to start! And with a theme like that anything goes, so why not go crazy! Look around your house for starters, I can’t tell you how tempted I was to make a garment out of multicoloured dish washing gloves. Eh eh. :D

Next is defiantly budget...

Wait, budget? Ah, well I am a starving art student gone starving artist here...

Hence my personal favourite place to start hunting: the dollar store. Up and down those isles are a collection of odds and end you can glue, sew and staple all over your body in countless ways shape and forms. The seasonal section is what I ended up settling on. One look at all those glorious red bows and I had blinders on! But please do not mistake this for a love of x-mas. That is defiantly lacking in this meat sack!

Speaking of meat... I’ve even known people crazy enough to make oh let's say, kilts out of bologna. I’d have to say be weary of that choice if you have pets. The fate of that particular garment was very short lived...

With all this said I totally get time restrictions and limited budgets. But unless you’re going to do something like this (Above) Let’s try something new? :P
